Regarding bees and honey and veganism – bees are going extinct in nature. The bee population is largely privately owned now in certain areas of the world, so we really should buy honey based products to help the ecosystem. If bee farmers make no money –> no more bees –> really bad consequences.

      (January 10, 2017 - 9:39 pm)

+barbara smart Bee-keepers do not all treat their bees the same way. But I shouldn’t think the bees care about us taking their honey as long as they have enough to get through winter and we don’t take their queen away.

From an ethical perspective, I can justify buying bee products, but from a specifically animal welfare perspective, I won’t neccesarily be able to (it will depend on the country of origins laws, some allow bee-keepers to kill the bees at the end of each season).

Great video Sarah! I’ve been in the process of phasing out my cruel make-up brands for the past few months, hopefully by the end of 2017 I’ll be 100% cruelty free. I was very interested to see that you still use Batiste, I’ve been hearing a lot of mixed things about it, lots of people seem to suggest that it’s sold in China (where animal testing is compulsory) despite it’s packaging. I’ll leave you a link for more info (I hear you like links!) Keep up the great videos!

Great video! I was wondering if the Dr. Bronner’s is the Castile soap with tea tree oil bottle. I made a dry shampoo by mixing equal parts of Arrowroot and Cocoa powder with a couple of drops of lavender mixed in. (I’m a dark brunette). To apply it, I use an old makeup brush at the roots or where I see oil. I didn’t think it would work, but it lasts all day! And stores nicely in a small jar. For me, with the can I had to reapply at least once a day. Also, for light hair, no need for cocoa powder. But one could always play with ratios based on one’s hair color.

Thanks for sharing. I have a question in regards to vegan with make up products, what relevance does it have being vegan since the make up isn’t eaten? Thanks😊. ***Just re-read your reply, I think I get it now! Thanks

      (January 11, 2017 - 1:47 am)

Does that apply to vegan too? Thanks, just a bit confused on those terms. 😊

Saint Cosmetics is a newer Canadian indie brand, and their Cardinal Sin Red lipstick is a gorgeous dark matte red. It’s long-lasting, cruelty free, vegan, organic, natural, plant-based, gluten free — all that good stuff! Oh, plus, they share their profits with an organization for abused women and children!

I love “paula’s choice” products for skincare. They are cruelty free but synthetic. I have tried tons of skincare brands from high-end to low-end but get way more complements on my skin since I switched to paula’s choice. Besides their skincare, they have a team which is called Beauty Pedia that exclusively publishes its honest reviews of the other brands’ products.

But Batiste is not cruelty-free 🙁 In Germany, you can easily find cruelty-free and vegan alternatives at Rossmann. Their own brand Isana has a very good dry shampoo. Basically you can give almost anything at Rossmann a chance, Isana, Alterra, Rival de Loop are affordable but good brands. BeYu is another German brand that does not get the recognition it deserves. Especially their skin products are soooo good. Their oil-free foundation is my must have now, and it never gave any breakouts to my acne-prone skin.
I stayed in Berlin for three months last summer and your videos give me so much joy to watch. Actually one of my new year’s resolutions is not to spend too much time on Youtube except for Sarah’s videos. You are lovely, keep more videos coming! 🙂 Sorry for the excruciatingly long comment!

Is the Dr. bronners for oily or more for a dry skin?

      Sara Nox

      (January 12, 2017 - 9:43 am)

Arya Mae rather for oily I’d say, it is a soap and therefore can strip the skin, I need to moisturize afterwards.

Hi sarah i absolutely love your videos you have inspired me so much to start a minimalist lifestyle and i have started thank you so much:D i had a little question for you about the dr. Bronners cleanser does it make your skin feel tight and does it dry out your skin?

      Sara Nox

      (January 13, 2017 - 5:05 pm)

Ali Dru It is a soap, so yes it will strip your face, there are smaller bottles available you can try it out, just make sure to use very little or delute it and maybe moisturize after.

I would really love to see a detailed video of how you put your makeup on. I’m 40+ and I’ve watched millions of videos, but I haven’t found one that I really like. I like your makeup look. I know that you want to do more serious information and advice videos, which I also want to see. But I would just love to see your routine for makeup.
I do love all of your videos. I love the vlogs and especially when you show us interesting or beautiful places, but I love your advice and I would also love to see you cooking a meal. (when I say you, I mean Sarah and Matthias, except I don’t really think his makeup video would help me much. LOL). I’m not vegan or vegetarian, but I would love to try some of the things you use sort of in place of animal products. And who couldn’t benefit from a meal or two without all the animal products???
Thanks for all the hard work you put into your videos. I really appreciate it and enjoy them all. 😘😘😘👋👋👋💕💕💕🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
